Start planning your holiday for The Greatest Flower Show on Earth
There are more than 12,000 species of wildflowers in Western Australia, with more than 60 per cent of these species found nowhere else in the world.
Each year, from June (in the north) until November (in the south), they bring a spectacle of colour and scent that needs to be experienced to be believed. To help you make the most of WA’s extraordinary wildflower season, grab your copy of the Wildflower Holiday Guide from Visitor Centres state-wide, or alternatively access the wildflowers e-brochure online. The electronic brochure contains information on wildflower events, flower trails and lots more. The e-guide is available through the Wildflowers WA website.
As part of a Margaret River Discovery Tour or Margaret River Best of the Best Wine Tour we will be including some wildflower spotting over the coming months. Already we are starting to see beautiful displays of Templetonia, Hovea and Hibertia. And the very first of the coastal Pimeleas are starting to burst ……. a good sign that Spring is on the way!
I also recommend visiting the Botanical Gardens in Kings Park, Perth, before you visit the South West as they have a remarkable display of flowers from all over the state.
